We have an ongoing programme to upgrade our network with new equipment to improve the broadband experience and removing the copper to cabinets.

We’ve also started installing Baseband IP at selected rural exchanges; once these are upgraded, you’ll no longer be able to order UCLL or Baseband Copper.

Please note that all our upgrade plans are available on the coverage maps when you are searching for an address.

This report contains information on both the UFB and RBI rollouts to schools. It indicates completed schools, and expected delivery dates.

If a school does not appear on this list, it is likely that it is not in the first three years of the rollout programme. Note this report is updated infrequently.

The copper shape files include coverage areas for:

  • VDSL (based on 15db line attenuation) – only provided for VDSL capable cabinets
  • 60db line attenuation (equates to >10mbps broadband in the coverage maps) – only provided for cabinets in the FTTN zone
  • 70db line attenuation (equates to >5mbps broadband in the coverage maps) – only provided for Zone 4 cabinets
  • 100db line attenuation (equates to >1mbps broadband in the coverage maps) – only provided for Zone 4 cabinets.

A premises falling outside of a coverage area does not indicate no copper service, it simply indicates that it is beyond a 100db line attenuation. This is indicative information only and a formal prequalification check using either OO&T or Chorus Portal is required to confirm service

Methodology for core service level reporting

In these documents the methodology used to report on core service levels under the reference offer services level terms. This information will evolve over time as changes, that had been the subject of discussion with the industry, are made to products and services. When we update the methodology, we'll attach a copy of the revised methodology to the relevant core service level report provided to service providers. We appreciate that the methodology for reporting core service levels is complex and are happy to talk to you if you have any questions.

This report provides current Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) and Gigabit Passive Optical Network (GPON) broadband service availability and their estimated data speed. It applies to all broadband and PSTN capable addresses in New Zealand. It includes working lines and intact lines with no current working service. This gives a closer indication to the total addressable market.

Note: Formulating a bulk report requires a different methodology to an individual line pre-qual. While every effort has been made to ensure data accuracy, this report does not guarantee service. A prequalification within Online Ordering & Tracking is still required to order a service.
