RGW ONT – Residential Gateway ONT

Technical specifications

How it works

The RGW ONT sits between your digital devices and the Internet. It manages the internal home network, allowing devices inside your home to talk to each other and to the Internet, and provides a basic level of digital security. The 3rd Gen ONT (model type 300) can act as both a Residential Gateway and a Fibre ONT, or just a Fibre ONT.

We have developed a comprehensive product user guide to help you understand how to get best out of RGW ONT.

Configuring RGW ONT

RGW ONT can be configured and managed by using ‘Remote Managed Service’ (RMS) Configuration website. For more detailed information on how RMS works please refer to its dedicated webpage here.

The RMS Configuration website can be accessed here

The RMS Configuration website comes with an initial set of functionalities, such as:

  1. View Service Information
  2. View/Modify Wi-Fi Configuration
  3. View/Modify Voice Configuration
  4. Reset/Reboot ONT

Additional functionalities e.g WAN configuration, LAN configuration etc. would be included in early 2021.

The RMS Configuration website is not targeted or available to end-customers. To configure Wi-Fi settings, end-customers can connect to the ONT directly at their home using the ONT’s native user interface.

End-customers would need to connect their browser-capable device (e.g. a laptop) to any of the LAN ports on the RGW through a straight ethernet cable (not supplied by Chorus). Then, on their browser address bar, they will need to type 192.168.1.254 and hit ‘Enter’. When prompted for username and password, they should enter admin as the username, and supply the GUI user admin password as shown on the label at the side of the RGW ONT. Care should be taken to NOT use the Wi-Fi password from the RGW ONT label for this purpose.
