Intra Candidate Area Backhaul (ICABS)

Technical specifications

How it works

In a nutshell, we supply you with access to dark fibre that connects your service or equipment in one exchange to another service or equipment in a separate exchange, in the same candidate area.

Each end terminates at the main optical fibre distribution frame (MOFDF) in the exchange, which can then be connected to another service using our Jumper service. Valid services include handover connection, Direct Fibre (DFAS), Bandwidth Fibre (BFAS) and colocation space.

Intra Candidate Area Backhaul features full restoration support when a fault is reported to us, but doesn’t include proactive fault monitoring capability. It’s designed as a basic, entry-level service and has no equipment to limit data transfer speeds across the fibre.

Set-up requirements

Intra Candidate Area Backhaul is a single dark fibre or bandwidth-managed service between Chorus exchanges. You’ll need a qualifying service or colocation at each Chorus exchange.
