Updating Wireline Prequalification to support Copper Withdrawal

Overview

As part of the Copper Withdrawal programme, we have listened to your suggestions on how to improve the Copper Ordering Process. One such improvement that has been consistently raised, was to look at updating Wireline to give a negative copper prequalification result against addresses that have a stop/sell notice in place.

The details

At the moment, once you have placed an order for connection off one of these addresses, you will receive a response in Wireline stating that “Copper Withdrawal is Underway for this address” and your order is cancelled.

From 22 September 2021, when a prequalification request is raised in Wireline (OOT) against an address that has a stop/sell notice in place as part of the Copper Withdrawal programme, the result will come back negative for all baseband and broadband copper services.

This will ensure you have the right information regarding the availability of copper services. If you still place a copper order it will be rejected.

There will be no change to the existing processes relating to active Copper Connections at these addresses where a request to disconnect their copper service, change plans, or transfer to a new provider is submitted.

Next steps

This change will NOT introduce any B2B schema changes. The changes will ONLY apply to new baseband and broadband copper prequalification submitted from 22 September 2021 on addresses that are part of the Copper Withdrawal programme and have a stop/sell against them.
