Hyperfibre automated feasibility testing - intacts

In June 2023 we advised you that as part of our scaling Hyperfibre programme we are enhancing the feasibility process for Hyperfibre and HPA plans to enable reduced lead times where the network has been upgraded to XGS-PON.

We are going to be doing two releases for automated feasibility, the first will focus on addresses that already have an intact GPON ONT that is to be upgraded to Hyperfibre 2000, Hyperfibre 4000 or High Priority Access 1000. This covers approximately 85% of today's Hyperfibre connections.

Chorus Portal EMMA environment will be updated for testing on 15 August 2023 and is targeted to be deployed into production on 25 September 2023.

We recommend you test your systems and inform us if there is any impact before these changes go live.

The test scenarios that can be executed in the EMMA environment for this change are detailed in the table below. For testing purposes, we have set up Small Business Hyperfibre 4000 and Hyperfibre 8000 plans to require pre-work in the exchange and all other Hyperfibre and HPA variants to act as an intact XGS-PON network (i.e., no pre-work required).

ONT Type installed at premise Hyperfibre plan selected in fibre order Expected system behaviour

Intact NGA ONT (i.e. ONT Type 100, 200, 300 or 400)

Any Hyperfibre or HPA plan other than

  • Small Business Hyperfibre 4000
  • Hyperfibre 8000 plans

Proceeds to replace the ONT to an XGS-capable ONT (i.e. ONT Type 110 or Single Port ONT) with a minimum lead time of two working days

Intact NGA ONT (i.e. ONT Type 100, 200, 300 or 400)  Hyperfibre plan ‘Small Business Hyperfibre 4000’ Proceeds to replace the ONT to a Hyperfibre-capable ONT (i.e. ONT Type 110), and requires Chorus pre-work.  Provides lead time buffer of 20 working days. (Note that this scenario is current state)
Intact Hyperfibre ONT (i.e. ONT Type 110) Any Hyperfibre plan, except Hyperfibre8000 plans

Allows the user to select an RFS date and time only (i.e. no site visits are required)

(Note that this scenario is current state)

The second release of automated feasibility (aiming for Q1 2024) will improve functionality when installing new ONTs and include Hyperfibre 8000. We have split the delivery into two deployments to ensure we get value for the most common orders as soon as possible, solving the more complicated and less common scenarios early next year.
