Copper withdrawal programme update
Our activity to withdraw our copper network in specified fibre areas (SFA) continues and we are working on increasing our batch volume.
We’ve now moved all of our batch activity into our batch management system where we can track progress, specific activity for an address or service, and manage our daily tasks. Our new system will also improve accuracy of the information we provide to RSPs to reduce rework or uncertainty.
Our batch lists of impacted services now include associated services – generally where a phone line and broadband service are supplied to a single address. This will ensure you have a full view of impacted services in your impacted services list. You will see these when at least one of the services at the addresses is yours and will show the associated service ID in the list.
If you would like to get regular updates on your impacted services, please get in touch with your account team.
Stats so far are:
- 537 cabinets have been withdrawn.
- 30,261 copper services notified.
- A trial to withdraw copper in other LFC areas is underway.
- We have launched 15 batches and completed 10.
FY24 Batch volume plan – high level
Our high-level plan for this financial year is to include approx. 6,000 services per batch for the next 2 batches and to review this number further after that, still maintaining the cadence of a batch every two months.
Thank you for your support!
Chorus and the Copper Withdrawal team would like to extend our thanks to all RSP teams that have worked with us over the last few years. It’s been a highly collaborative effort, and we wouldn’t have this many consumers migrating off copper without your support – thank you. We look forward to your continued support as we scale up and optimise our capability.
