Our new Chorus Exchange Connect (CXC) backhaul product launched on 4 September 2023. For consistency, we intend to align the pricing structure of long distance ICABS to match that of CXC. 

ICABS has stepped pricing, with the steps determined by the radial distance between the two exchanges it connects: 

1. 2x monthly rental; nil if associated with an access install (e.g., DFAS) 
2. Jumper charges may be included when connected to another access service 

Note: This pricing will change as a result of the 1 October 2023 CPI changes.  

CXC follows the same stepped pricing tiers up to 40km. Pricing for circuits with distances above 40km are calculated by adding additional steps using the same stepped pricing from 40km. 

Proposed changes to ICABS pricing 

Under our proposal, ICABS will continue to be based on radial distance however the C step will be aligned to that of CXC and the same pricing logic will apply for distances longer than 40km:

1. 2x monthly rental; nil if associated with an access install (e.g. DFAS) 
2. Jumper charges may be included when connected to another access service

Note: This pricing will change as a result of the 1 October 2023 CPI changes.  

Below are some worked examples of what this will look like: 

• Howick to Kumeu is 35km radial distance, C step pricing will apply. 
• Manurewa to Hibiscus Coast is 44.8km radial distance, C + A step pricing will apply. 
• Hibiscus Coast to Runciman is 55.5km radial distance, C + B step pricing will apply. 

Existing ICABS circuits longer than 40km currently number in the single digits, so we do not expect these changes to have a significant impact on you.
