During the cyclone at the beginning of the year Chorus’ core fibre network route was cut both North and South around East Cape / Gisborne region. As a result, multiple Mobile Access Service (MAS) connected cell-sites went off-air for a period, affecting some RSPs. 

When the first of the two routes were restored, not all cell sites came back online, until both routes were up and running again.  

On the back of this extreme weather event, we have received requests from a few consumers of MAS to provide some level of diversity in the event of the MAS not being able to connect to the Primary POI. 

We would like to invite you to provide feedback on whether a handover diversity feature would make the product more attractive to buy, and how you would want to manage failover.
