We’ve heard from customers that there is a need for an Auto-switching Diversity feature that can provide resiliency to our DWDM-based transport products like CDCC, CXC or CRC.
Current State
To achieve diversity using our transport products today, RSPs currently need to purchase two separate instances of the product and use their own switching equipment on either end to failover between them, making this solution cost prohibitive and impractical in some scenarios.
Our proposed solution
We are proposing to introduce an Auto-switching Diversity feature which will see our DWDM equipment perform the automatic failover between two geographically diverse paths in the case of a failure.
This would eliminate the need for the RSP to purchase two separate instances of the product and use their own switching equipment to failover between them.
The diverse path facilitated by auto-switching will incur an additional charge above the cost of the primary path, however we envision offering it at a significant discount to a stand-alone path thanks to the more efficient use of network resources.
We believe that Auto-switching Diversity can deliver significant savings to you while still achieving the network resiliency you require.
