We’re introducing new Visionstream crews to meet the high demand for NGA services in the Wellington area.

What's happening?

From 1 December, Visionstream will be taking over from Downer to carry out NGA installations for Single Dwelling Units (SDU) and Right of Ways (ROW) in the following exchange areas: Johnsonville, Tawa, Titahi Bay, Porirua, Plimmerton, Pukerua Bay, Whitby, Waitangirua and Paekakariki.

This will bring in new crews to increase our capacity to meet NGA demand and reduce lead times in Wellington overall.

What's the detail?

There will be no change to the current NGA processes and standards.

Visionstream will receive all new NGA SDU and ROW orders for the North Wellington area from 1 December. Any work not already started by Downer during that time will also be transferred to Visionstream. Our Provisioning and Managed Agree teams will manage this transition.

We are working on a detailed transition plan to ensure this doesn't impact our day to day operations. This will be available through your Service Delivery Manager.

Downer will continue to carry out NGA installations in Wellington Central, Wellington South and the Hutt Valley. Downer will also continue to manage all fibre maintenance work, UFB build (including point to point fibre services HSNS, DFA, etc) copper provisioning and copper maintenance work in Wellington, including in the area where Visionstream installs NGA.

UCG will continue to install NGA to Multi Dwelling Units (MDUs) like they do today.
