Visionstream to install fibre in the Wellington region

Informer 352: 7 April 2016

We’re introducing the Visionstream team to meet the high demand for fibre in Wellington, the Kapiti Coast and the Manawatu.

What's happening?

From 16 May, Visionstream will be taking over from Downer to carry out fibre installations in Wellington and the Kapiti Coast; and then in the Manawatu from 30 May.

This change will see new technicians coming into the region and bring in proven effective work management capability that will help us meet demand and reduce the installation lead time for your customers.

What's the detail?

A detailed transition plan will be available from your Service Delivery Manager next week. Here’s a summary of what you can expect.

  • There will be no change to our current NGA processes or standards, this is simply a change in the service company managing the fibre installation work in the field.
  • For Wellington and the Kapiti Coast:
    • All new NGA orders will go to Visionstream from 16 May
    • All work not already started by Downer will move to Visionstream on 16 May
    • Downer will finish any work that they have already started
    • In Wellington, NGA MDU orders will continue to be carried out by UCG
  • For the Manawatu:
    • All new NGA SDU, ROW and MDU orders will go to Visionstream from 30 May
    • All work in progress will move from Downer to Visionstream on 30 May. We expect any work not already started is likely to be moved forward.

Our Provisioning team will have a transition plan in place to minimise, or carefully manage any impact to you and your customers.

All other Downer and Visionstream areas are unaffected by this change.
