RGW withdrawal reminder

As you know, RGW ONT is nearing the end of its lifecycle. This product went into stop-sell in November last year and will be fully withdrawn on 31 October 2024.

This is just six months away and it is a hard deadline that we cannot move as some RGW ONT supporting systems are nearing end-of-life and won’t be available after this date. Any customers still in RGW mode on 31 October 2024 will be switched to ’standard mode’ to provide continuity of service but will not be able to connect if they don’t have a router plugged in to the correct port (Port 1 for GPON services and LAN 10G for Hyperfibre). Please help us avoid a poor customer experience by planning ahead.

Your account team will provide impact lists and will work with you on your migration plans. Please make sure that you also remember your test circuits.

Please ensure that you move these impacted customers on to other RGW solutions.

Other system impacts

The RMS (our Remote Management Service) website and API will both be retired at that stage as they are only used for RGW ONT services.

We also expect to have some small changes in the following systems:

  • Portal – The ‘ONT Mode’ dropdown box will be removed from order pre-feasibility.
  • Assure channels – ONT Mode will be removed from the Assurance Portal and Assurance API.

B2B changes will be limited to making this field non-mandatory and ignoring any values sent through in this field as we will have given decommissioning notice in August. Fibre connect APIs do not have any ONT mode options. This should therefore not result in a change to your ordering integration.

These system changes will take place around 31 October 2024 to align with the withdrawal of RGW ONT. We will provide a detailed pack as soon as we can.
