PONFAS Forecast Request
On 20 June, Chorus released a finalised price and an updated service description for PONFAS.
We are now seeking forecasts from RSPs who wish to consume the service from early 2020.
This information will allow Chorus to commence planning to meet requirements before committed forecasts are received.
As PONFAS is a layer 1 service there are lead times associated with introducing ONTs, training resources, managing co-location and mapping desired customer experiences.
What we need by 31 July:
- Email confirmation of your intention to start consuming the services from early 2020.
- A volumetric forecast showing the numbers of end consumers you want to migrate or connect over a given time period to assist with our internal and service company resource planning.
- Central office co-location forecasts so we can start to manage the resources required to provide space and power for your OLTs.
- Information about which ONT model(s) you intend to use, and whether you require a Chorus technician to install it.
Once this information is received it will allow us to start preparing to support you in providing a committed forecast. Chorus will start incurring resource costs once a forecast is committed and may need to recover some costs if this forecast is not met.
The below activities need to be considered in your planning and there are lead times associated with each.

To train operational resources on your ONT, particularly assure teams, which rely on ONT analytics to assure Layer 1 problems. |

To train operational resources on installing your ONT, where that ONT installation is deemed standard. |

To train operational resources on installing your ONT, where that ONT installation has specific installation standards, testing or other specific requirements. |
