Fibre Access product simplification – deadline reminder & delaying grandfathering for Business Evolve 30-10-5-5

In November 2021 we provided notice of stop-sell or withdrawal for select plans, following consultation with RSPs, as part of our Simplification Initiative. That notice set out a series of dates on which different groups of plans would be withdrawn or grandfathered.

This is a reminder that the final simplification date is now approaching so this is a good time to remind our customers of the changes.

Changes already in effect:

  • Group A: Withdrawal of Group A plans on 25 May 2022. There are no customers on these plans so no RSPs are affected (note that NGA Business eDMR variants with existing customers are not being withdrawn so are not affected);
  • Group B1 and B2: Grandfathering (stop-sell) of these B1 and B2 plans from 25 May 2022. These plans are now grandfathered so cannot be ordered.

Upcoming changes:

  • Group B1 and B2 (withdrawal of these plans on 25 November 2022
  • Group C1: Grandfathering (stop-sell) of these plans from 25 November 2022.
  • Group C2: Grandfathering (stop-sell but with transfers between RSPs permitted) of these plans from 25 November 2022 (this is NGA Business P2P only)

Delaying the grandfathering (stop-sell) of Business Evolve 30-10-5-5

The Business Evolve 30-10-5-5 plan was originally included in Group C1, set to be grandfathered on 25 November 2022. Based on feedback we have received to indicate there is still a market need for a 5Mbps High Traffic Class Bitstream 2 offer, we have decided to delay grandfathering Business Evolve 30-10-5-5 indefinitely. We will review this decision in a year’s time based on the ongoing demand for the plan.

We confirm that we are proceeding with simplification as originally outlined for all other plans, as detailed in the Product Simplification Summary.

What this means?

“Grandfathering” (or “stop-sell”) means that from the grandfathering date: (1) No new orders will be accepted for these plans; and (2) existing connections can remain in place, but no moves, adds or changes (including transfers between RSPs) can be made for these plans (with the exception of NGA Business P2P, for which transfers between RSPs will be permitted, but no other moves, adds or changes).

“Withdrawal” means that the specified plans will no longer be available for either existing or new users from the withdrawal date. Any existing connections will need to be migrated to an alternative plan (or disconnected) before the withdrawal date (with the exception of NGA Business eDMR, for which we are retaining variants with existing connections). No further orders for these plans will be able to be made.

Next steps

Last year, together with the notice, we provided individual summaries to RSPs of your impacted connections where the relevant plans for those connections are being withdrawn, and suggested alternatives for migrations/new orders.

If you have any questions about that summary or would like for us to resend it, please get in touch with your account team.

We can also provide information on request of connections on plans which are being grandfathered (noting that these connections are not themselves affected but will continue).
