Better Broadband - phase two overview

We want to help you upgrade 85% of New Zealanders on our network, to better broadband by mid-2018.

We’ve been educating your customers via our ‘better is here’ marketing campaign, and supporting your activity through the Broadband Upgrade offer. We’ve seen some great results and are now evolving our approach to ensure that together, we meet this target.

Phase two includes a series of new offers, marketing activity and migration trials. Here's a quick summary of the initiatives that we’ll deliver over the next couple of months:

Offers

Fibre Upgrade Offer

Following the success of the Broadband Upgrade Offer, this phase focuses further on driving fibre uptake. You’ll get all the details on this phase via an Update this Friday. You’ll then have 2 weeks to give feedback, before we finalise our offer.

Better Broadband Offer

We’ve compiled a database of addresses to upgrade as a priority, as well as addresses no longer on our network. Upgrading these customers onto our network will give you a credit. We’ll be launching this late-August.

Migration programmes

Fibre migration trials

We’re trialling a new, one-day installation process between 1 September and 30 November 2017. This trial allows you to market to all customers in a targeted area, with a much shorter installation time-frame. We’ll provide more details via an Update this week.

Chorus-led migrations

We're testing how we can accelerate fibre connections - using small scale trials in areas with spare capacity.

In the Hokitika UFB2 trial, ~90% of residents we spoke to agreed to have their home made fibre-ready. We’re now planning to expand this trial to the entire town. We also want to try this same method in UFB1 areas, where fibre is already available and uptake has slowed.

Finally, we’ve also begun trials in brownfield MDUs. We’re offering to get customers fibre-ready as we build their communal network.

Our detailed overview can be found here.

Co-branding trial

Over the next 3 months we're testing an ongoing, co-branded, direct mail campaign using our network data. The trial’s participants are then required to follow up with door knockers or outbound calling. We’ll share details about its results in due course.

Next steps

There are certainly a lot of initiatives planned, to get 85% of New Zealanders onto better broadband. We’ll share more details about each in due course. In the meantime, please contact your account manager with any queries or feedback.
