Feedback from our 10GPON trial has been positive, with customers excited with this next evolution on speed and performance.

We’ll use insight gathered through the trial to help form what comes next and we would appreciate your feedback on which 10GPON product offers/plans you would like to see going forward.

What’s happening

The 10GPON trial is built on Nokia’s XGSPON technology. This next evolution in GPON technology allows us to offer symmetrical speeds (that’s upload and download) of up to 8 Gbps.

We’re currently working through what our future XGSPON product set might look like, but these could include features such as;

• Consumer and Small Business focused products
  • Based on Bitstream 2 (single VLAN).
  • 2, 4 and 8 Gigabit Low Traffic Class bandwidth offers.
  • ‘Overclocked’ to compensate for higher layer protocol overheads.
  • Bridged or RGW mode, selectable.
  •  
• Corporate and Education focused products
  • Based on Bitstream 3a (VLAN transparent).
  • 2, 4 and 8 Gigabit Low Traffic Class bandwidth offers.
  • Selectable High Traffic Class bandwidth up to 1000 Mbps.
  • Bridged mode only.

We also would like to check if you see a place for a true 1 Gigabit symmetric bitstream for the Small Business and you’d like to include a voice port with these offers?
