We’re proposing to adjust prices by reference to March CPI (6.65%) to most fibre services we provide under the 2022 CSA from 1 October 2023. We want your feedback on these proposed changes.

The proposal takes into consideration the cost of delivering exceptional fibre services on our UFB network and the external inflationary pressures affecting our supply chain. Given recent weather events we will also need to look at network recovery and resilience for any future extreme weather events.

You can check out a full list of the fibre services to which these proposed price changes will be applied here.

The exceptions are:

  • Hyperfibre – we propose holding the current price points for all Hyperfibre plans.
  • Home Fibre Starter 50 – we propose holding the current $35.00 price where the service provider meets the $60 retail price cap. If the retail price exceeds $60.00 per month the standard Fibre 50 price will apply.
  • Small Business Fibre Max – we propose a limited increase (2.86%) to maintain a $5 premium to the Consumer plan.
  • Education Max – we’ve committed to holding this price until at least 31 December 2023 (see here).
  • Business Premium, Mobile Access, Chorus Data Centre Connect, Chorus Relay Connect, and Chorus Regional Transport – we propose holding the current prices for these services.
  • New services - any new services launched by us after the date of this Customer Update. If we launch any of these types of services, we’ll provide appropriate pricing information related to those services at the time of launch.

For the regulated fibre services (Broadband Anchor Service, Voice Anchor Service, and LUDFAS), these are subject to price caps which increase according to the June quarter CPI rate of inflation each year.

To provide you with certainty, we’re proposing an increase of no more than 6.65% and the increase may be less depending on the June CPI rate. This also applies to Fibre 300 where we have made a commitment to link pricing to the regulated broadband anchor service throughout RP1.

Important note: This proposed price increase remains subject to consultation feedback and internal approvals.

Next Steps

You can see a summary of the key milestones for this fibre price change process

From 10:30-11:00am on 5 May 2023 we will host a call providing background information about, and an explanation of the rationale for, the proposed changes. We won’t be taking any questions or feedback during this call. All service providers are welcome to attend, contact Roxinne McCord to register.

If you have questions, please submit them before 5pm on 10 May 2023 using our Q&A Registration process

Please submit your feedback using our online form. We’ll then publish a Customer Update by 7 July 2023 letting you know whether:

  • we have decided to go ahead with the proposed price change, and
  • there are any amendments to the proposal we’ve consulted on as a result of feedback.

We’ll include a high-level summary as part of that Customer Update.

Our default position is that we won’t identify the service providers who gave feedback nor what feedback belongs to which service provider. We’re open to making a connection between you and your feedback as part of the summary if you want us to do so.
