Market development fund: $1.25 million available over the next 12 months

After a great response to the previous 2 market development funds, we’re making even more available to support your Chorus broadband marketing activities.

What’s happening?

Plan ahead with a 12-month funding view

Between now and June 2019 we will run 3 rounds of funding application. Each round will have different criteria and funding amounts available, however all will be focused on getting more kiwis onto the best available broadband on the Chorus network.

These dates are for each of these rounds and total funding amounts available to help you factor these into your planning:

August funding opportunity - get your customers on Chorus’ best

$300,000 is available to support fibre and VDSL marketing activity between August and December 2018. Eligible advertising will need to run before 31 December 2018.

  • We’ll match your media spend dollar-for-dollar up to $30,000 on advertising in Chorus fibre or VDSL areas.
  • To be eligible your advertising needs to promote the following:
    • Gig fibre plan with unlimited data or Business fibre in Chorus fibre areas; or
    • VDSL in Chorus VDSL areas (which are outside of Chorus’ fibre areas).
  • Advertising shall be regionally targeted driving to the best Chorus broadband available in each area.

Applications are open from 14 August to 28 September 2018. See the full terms and conditions for details.

Stimulating regional demand

Over the course of the next 12 months we’ll periodically release regional marketing packages. These pre-booked media plans will target specific locations and be paid for by Chorus.

The purpose of these packages is to stimulate demand quickly in specific areas to maintain technician supply, among other factors.

Benefits of participating:

  • These are cost-free additions to your current marketing activity
  • You can test advertising in areas you may not normally market to
  • Kiwis can get connected quickly due to shorter lead times in the area.

Important things you need to know

To be eligible to participate in these regional opportunities, you’ll need to pre-register.

In the registration form you’ll be asked to indicate the areas you’d like to participate in - you can choose as few or as many as you like.

Registration means we’ll then notify only those who have pre-registered for that area when an area is identified for regional marketing activity.

Notification process

  • For each identified area that requires support, a media plan will be created and booked by Chorus.
  • Service providers that have pre-registered for that area will be notified by email (as per indicated in the completed registration form) of the available schedule and deadlines.
  • To ensure the opportunity is worthwhile to you we’ll allow only one of you at the time to fulfil a regional schedule unless it is for an extended period.
  • Once notified we’ll accept the first response via return email on a first come first serve basis.
    • You’ll need to supply artwork promoting fibre 100+ plans by the deadline provided for all the media placements within the schedule.
    • If you are unable to fulfil the requirements of the entire schedule then your request will be declined and the next responder (in time) will be given the opportunity.
  • Media schedules will be bespoke by region however it’ll include a combination of the following:
    • Digital banner advertising suite – (wide x high) 300px x 250px,
      160px x 600px, 300px x 600px & 728px x 90px
    • Outdoor – standard 6mx3m landscape
    • 30 sec radio advert
