Sharing our new guidelines for non-binary, transgender, and transitioning gender employees

In February 2021, the Chorus Rainbow Network kicked off a series of workshops with the industry to build guidelines for our people leaders and employees that are non-binary or transgender.

We are delighted that with the support of the industry, we’ve now completed this work and are proud to launch three key documents as tools of support which are designed to both guide and educate.

As these tools have been a collaborative industry effort, we are not only making them available to Chorus, but we are also sharing them as springboard to support our customers and partners industry-wide. We are glad to have got here together and hope these guidelines are useful as a start to build your own toolkit.

Tools

1. Guidelines for Non-binary Transgender and Transitioning Gender at work

The purpose of these guidelines is to ensure that any Chorus person who decides to transition gender whilst at Chorus is fully supported. These guidelines are further supported by the Gender Identity and Sexual Diversity section of the Anti-Bullying, Harassment & Discrimination Policy. The policy outlines that “Chorus is committed to providing a safe, welcoming and inclusive workplace for all Chorus people, regardless of their gender identity, sex or sexual orientation and does not tolerate or condone discrimination in any form against anyone on these grounds”.

2. Non-binary, Transgender & Transitioning Gender Toolkit

This toolkit has been developed to give people leaders the information they may need to understand how best to support non-binary, transitioning and/or transgender employees.

Chorus is entirely in support of employees who wish to transition. We are committed to providing all reasonable and practical support to the employee to help ensure they feel safe and supported within the workplace.

We recognise that each situation is unique to that individual and therefore are committed to support the employee in a way that’s best for them. This toolkit is designed to help people leaders support and provide guidance to transitioning and transgender employees.

3. Non-binary, Transgender & Transitioning FAQ’s

These FAQs are a living document that we’ve compiled in partnership with people in rainbow communities in our industry to support better workplace experiences for one another. It contains commonly asked questions that, while available on the internet, covers the key things that we know people either are curious to educate themselves on or that we know are things people might need to know.
