Tomorrow we’ll be kicking off a PR push to help set consumer expectations about getting connected to fibre before the Rugby World Cup in September and drive early demand.

Supporting this we have launched the fibre installation tracker on our website homepage. The tracker estimates the number of fibre installations available in Chorus fibre areas until 15 September 2019, the Sunday before the tournament starts.

Starting at 91,800 on 11 March, the number of available installations reduces at the rate of approximately one every three minutes, and is based on Chorus’ average completion rate of 3,400 fibre installations each week. To further improve the accuracy, we will update the number manually each month with the reconciled fibre installation data.

This is the first of a range of PR activities that we will do over the next 6 months to help New Zealanders prepare for viewing the Rugby World Cup matches online.
