Restricting access to the MDR colocation room

What is happening?

We are close to reaching full capacity within our MDR (Mayoral Drive) colocation room. While we look at alternative options, we are implementing a more robust process to ensure existing and additional load is well managed and the integrity of your network equipment is protected.

From the 19 March existing access will be removed for all customers. Any planned access to the MDR colocation room will require an approved ‘permit to work’ request. In the interim leading up to 19th March, due to the capacity risk we ask that you discuss any plans to add move or change equipment with your SDM as soon as possible.

Access for Faults

We recognise that you will require immediate access in reactive faults situations, and for this reason access will not be restricted in a fault scenario. We will require a retrospective permit to be submitted in this instance.

Applying for a work permit

More information on how to request a permit to work is available in resources.

Please note that in some cases it will not be possible to issue a work permit due to the capacity issue. In such cases you will be advised of the permit decline and referred to contact your Service Delivery Manager directly to discuss options.

In addition to this, we are also keen to give you an indication of supply at all our sites. To enable this we are proposing to implement a forecasting process that allows us to jointly plan the space. More information on this will be available in the near future.

Please note that access to the rest of the MDR site is unaffected.

Your Service Delivery Manager will work closely with you to assist with the access to MDR site process.
