Proposed Geographically Consistent Pricing for HSNS fibre

We’re proposing the adjustment of prices we charge for HSNS fibre services under the Reference Offer and WCSA, as a result of the geographically consistent pricing requirements effective from 1 January 2022. We would appreciate your feedback on these proposed changes.

What’s happening?

Geographically consistent pricing (GCP) requires us to charge the same price for the same service regardless of geographic location of the service or the end user, as of 1 January 2022. This impacts on 3 products: HSNS Premium, HSNS Lite Fibre & HSNS TES.

The key proposed changes are:

HSNS Premium:

  • Currently has 7 Access zones : UFB, CBD, Metro, Urban, C, D & E

  • We are re-pricing all HSNS Premium connections currently priced at CBD, Urban, Metro, C, D & E access rate to the UFB rate

  • All customers will either be the same or be better off as it is our lowest Access charge

  • Bandwidth charges are reduced to UFB rates

  • Currently, HSNS Premium connections incur an additional charge where they are 1, 2 or 3 exchange ‘hops’ away from the nearest ethernet access node/switch (EAN/EAS). Each hop is charged at $475 i.e. 3 hops at $1,425

  • We are replacing the current ‘hop’ structure with ‘extended fibre’. Extended fibre means only HSNS Premium connections over 40Km’s will be charged (at $1,425). For HSNS Premium connections less than 40kms, a customer who is paying a hop fee today will be better off from 1 January 2022. Customers who aren't paying a hop fee today will pay the same as they do today, so no better or worse off from 1 January 2022.

  • There is no change to  Premium installation pricing.

HSNS Lite Fibre:

  • Currently has 6 Access zones : CBD, Metro, Urban, C, D & E

  • All HSNS Lite fibre connections will be  priced at the current price of access zone C

  • Similar to HSNS Premium, an ‘extended fibre’ charge applies to HSNS Lite fibre connections over 40kms

  • Bandwidth charges and installation charges are unchanged

HSNS Tail Extension Service (TES):

  • Currently has 8 steps, A to H. Each step has 21 different bandwidths

  • There will be a flat price (per bandwidth) that applies to all current steps C to H

  • Steps A & B will be free of charge
