Chorus Co-Innovation Laboratory is moving

We are updating our Chorus Co-Innovation Laboratory (CCIL) in September 2021, in anticipation of the Future Fibre Portfolio and 4th Gen ONT introduction.

What’s happening?

We will be updating our Chorus Co-Innovation Laboratory (CCIL) in September 2021. This update will involve:

  • Installation of updated OLTs in new locations.

  • Installing Ethernet Aggregation Switches in the new locations.

  • Repointing existing (active) CCIL connections to the new location.

The Chorus Co-Innovation Laboratory will not be available during this update, and there will be reduced support prior to and just after.

The details

The Chorus Co-Innovation Laboratory (CCIL) allows Service Providers with an Auckland or Wellington lab to test GPON, Hyperfibre and BS4 services in their test lab. It comprises a dedicated ring-fenced UFB network in Auckland and Wellington that connects directly to Service Provider test labs. This is a flexible and powerful tool that enables you to test new and current broadband services ‘at your convenience.’

We are physically shifting the CCIL network equipment to Chorus sites in early September, in anticipation of the Future Fibre Portfolio and 4th Gen ONT introduction. As part of this shift, we will be updating the CCIL OLTs to the latest generation hardware and software.

All active CCIL connections will be repointed as part of this shift. However, as CCIL is a test facility, some CCIL connections may be used very intermittently and may not be considered active. Therefore, we recommend existing CCIL users confirm as soon as possible as to whether they still require their existing connections to ensure that these will continue to work after the update.

Our expected timeframes are as follows:
