Preparing for Land Access Reforms
We’re piloting new processes for ROW and MDUs, that include site assessments upfront. By checking properties earlier, we’ll have a more accurate picture of the consent required.
What's happening?
Our service partners Visionstream and Broadspectrum, will now assess ROW / MDU orders upfront and provide us with a plan for the communal area (e.g. shared driveway). The assessment will be done before we seek consent from affected landowners, and will take around 5 business days to complete. You might notice a delay in orders progressing from Consent Required to Consent Requested, however we don’t expect overall consenting time to be impacted.
What's the detail?
We’re doing this to prepare us for Land Access Reforms, which is a law change expected in early 2017. This change will require all LFCs to assess the install methods and associated impact in ROW / MDU orders, before notifying (or seeking consent from) affected landowners.
Details of the legislation’s final form, including regulations and disputes process is still being finalised. However, we know an assessment upfront supports this change.
Once we know more, we’ll share implementation and training plans with you.
