New migration trials planned – beginning with Thames

We’ve been developing, testing and streamlining our approach to helping customers connect in UFB2 areas. We’ve also be exploring new ways to support your targeted fibre sales campaigns.

In order to extend these two approaches to more towns across the country we have planned a series of new trials. This new series of trials will run over the next six months and will help us develop and extend our UFB2, Chorus-led and Managed Fibre Campaign processes. The first starts in March focused on Thames, Coromandel.

Supporting details

We want to get your customers connected to fibre faster, that’s why we’ve developed the Managed Fibre Campaign process and started our Chorus-led migration trials.

It’s been a huge collaborative effort and the results have been encouraging. We’ve still got a long way to go to refine the approach and extend the capability across our fibre areas. This means we’ll begin a new series of trials from March this year.

Our first trial starts in Thames, Coromandel next month. We’ll work with our new UFB2 service company partner, UCG, in that trial to further develop our approach for getting customers connected.

We’ll also use these planned trials to introduce UCG’s fibre techs to the one-day install process. Once completed, we’ll be able to extend our Managed Fibre campaign process into Nelson, Taupo, Rotorua, Blenheim and Whakatane.

Getting ‘fibre ready’ customers connected

We’d obviously like the customers who are now 'fibre ready' from our three previous trials to upgrade as soon as possible. We’ve published the list of ‘fibre ready’ addresses on our website and there are now around 400 fibre ‘intacts’ on this report. We’ll be adding to the list in the coming weeks as we complete more ‘fibre ready’ installs, and removing addresses as customers upgrade to fibre.

Next steps

Our dedicated migration website will continue to store the latest information on our trials and ‘fibre ready’ addresses.
