New fibre connect opportunity with Chorus cards

We are testing a new broadband demand ’lever’ to promote uptake on fibre by sending a prepaid MasterCard to households not connected to our network where fibre is available.

What’s happening

The intention of this pilot is to generate new fibre orders for you. We are utilising the Westpac business prepaid card solution to test 1200 cards which will be loaded with varied dollar amounts.

As part of the pilot we are using two types of letters, a proof of concept letter, which was sent on the 10th of June to a small test group of 200 addresses and the remaining larger test group will receive an alternative letter from 1 July.

What’s the detail

A selected group of addresses have been chosen at random to participate in this pilot.  These addresses are all currently not active on our network (offnet) and have fibre available.

To be eligible for the credit a recipient of our letter will need to:

  1. Be the householder and broadband account holder at that address;
  2. Activate the card via our ‘Chorus Cards Portal’; and
  3. Place an order with their preferred Broadband Provider, connecting to Chorus fibre by 30 September 2019.

Chorus will then load the relevant $ amount to the card once the address connects to Chorus fibre broadband.

This is the first of a series of trials we intend to run with consumer incentives.  In the first instance we ask that if your frontline staff receive any direct queries about this initiative, you direct those queries to cards@chorus.co.nz or our website www.chorus.co.nz/giftcard where people can find out more about this trial.

Next steps

You may have had a conversation with your account manager already and been given a pack with some information about the Chorus Cards Pilot.  In that we asked you to advise your frontline teams of this offer and let them know to direct any queries about the campaign to cards@chorus.co.nz or visit our website www.chorus.co.nz/giftcard for more details.
