New date confirmed for 200Mbps changes

Overview

On 27 August we postponed the 200Mbps speed upgrade as a result of Service Provider feedback and advised we would communicate a revised timeline once we had greater clarity on the Covid response.

We have been actively reviewing the timeline and are now able to confirm these upgrades will be implemented on Saturday 9 October 2021.

What’s happening?

The details of what we are doing remains the same as what we communicated previously. As a reminder, we will boost the following offers to Max speed:

  • Evolve 200-20-2.5-2.5 Residential
  • Evolve 200-100-2.5-2.5 Residential
  • Evolve 200-200-2.5-2.5 Residential
  • Evolve 200-200-2.5-2.5 Business

This change will be implemented overnight on 9 October 2021. All existing, in-flight, and future instances of these Chorus offers will receive the new speed automatically. Note, however, that you will probably need to update your network traffic profiles before end customers can access the new speed.

These offers will still be available to order after 9 October, but any new requests will receive Max speeds. Given that there is no speed or price difference between these offers and Max, you may want to consider whether you continue to consume these offers going forward.

Note that the following offers are not being boosted:

  • Evolve 200-20-2.5-2.5 Business
  • Evolve 200-100-2.5-2.5 Business

The details

We will implement these speed upgrades through synchronised network and system scripts. This approach allows us to implement the changes in a more efficient and scalable manner than could be achieved via bulk service requests.

You do not need to do anything to get these changes applied. However, it is likely that you will need to reconfigure your network profiles before customers experience the speed increase.
