Link Aggregation Group options

UFB handovers support a large number of fibre users and to make this as efficient as possible we are introducing 4 port Link Aggregation group (LAG) options, available from today, 11 December 2017.

More LAG options means that things can keep working even when one port fails.

Supporting details

We had previously communicated (Informer 387 19th August 2016) a reduction in the number of ports per UFB handover connection. This was due to technical limitations with handover resources at that time.

We have since tested a feature that significantly increases handover resource scalability meaning the application of 4 port LAG to all new handovers is possible.

We are unable to apply 4 port LAG to handovers with services already on them. However, we would like to work with you to determine how you can best use this feature or migrate users from current handovers with a 2 port LAG limitation to new handovers which will support 4 port LAG. This will help in managing your network better and will also make load balancing easier on your UFB handover.

We will continue to make more resiliency options available for you to build a robust network. This will include things like Node and Geographic diversity.
