Explaining our HSNS/DFAS install contribution

We'd like to clarify our contribution to premises wiring for HSNS/DFAS connections.
In Multi Dwelling Units (MDUs) an HSNS or DFAS installation consists of several components.

MDU internal cabling

Diagram key:

A = Building Comms room / Chorus fibre demarcation point.

B = Chorus customer fibre termination box. This is installed in customer's comms or server room where the service is required,.

C = Chorus Media Converter (if HSNS) or presented as pigtail (for DFAS/Glass only). This part of the installation between B & C is at no cost to the customer.

Light blue line = Chorus communal network.

Red line = Fibre lead-in from the premises boundary to an external termination point.

Dotted line = Chorus fibre internal cabling from demarcation to customer site. This is backbone cabling within the MDU.

Yellow line = Premises wiring between the backbone cabling and your customer’s tenancy.

IBT = Inside Boundary Trenching for sites with no lead-in duct requiring the install of Chorus duct from boundary or communal network, into the site.
