Due to events out of our control, including a typhoon, tariffs and an issue with the cranes at the port holding the shipment back, we are delaying the rollout of the new 5th Gen GPON ONT by two weeks.

We now expect to have the new ONTs with the technicians in the week starting 11 August 2025. They will start installing them in soft launch areas (CSA 1 – most of the South Island and CSA 9 – Northern Auckland) once existing van stocks of 4th Gen ONTs are depleted. The full launch to all areas nationwide will follow in the week starting 8 September 2025.

There is no change to IT system change release dates (Portal/B2B/APIs) and the new ONT value will still be added to systems on 25 July 2025 in preparation for the rollout.

On 21 July we updated the software on the test ONTs to 0B9. Please keep in mind that the software is incremental, so any testing you have done on 0B8 is still valid. You can now re-test any previously failed tests that were waiting for this software update. 

Note the rollout of the new 2nd Gen XGS ONT is on track for November.
