Vector OHUG project in Mt Albert
As part of their commitment to undertake community projects Vector are conducting an overhead to underground (OHUG) project in a subsection of Mt Albert. Vector began letter drops to customers at the specific addresses from 7 October 2019, and will begin planning work in the public corridor from 14 October 2019. The project is expected to be completed by early 2021.
As discussed in the TCF ‘Migration of Chorus Copper Services to Chorus Fibre Services’ working party the undergrounding of Vector’s network provides an excellent opportunity for customers within the project area to upgrade to fibre.
What’s changing?
As per discussions in the TCF ‘Migration of Chorus Copper Services to Chorus Fibre Services’ working party Vector are engaging in a powerline OHUG programme in a subsection of Mt Albert. The project is currently projected to run through to early 2021.
Chorus fibre services will be ‘undergrounded’ as a part of this project, and the move to underground fibre services will help facilitate the removal of the overhead utilities network in the area. This provides an excellent opportunity to migrate your copper service customers within the project area to fibre.
In line with the process we’ve been developing with TCF, Vector will announce their plans to customers in the second week of October which will then allow you to include OHUG messaging in your sales activity.
Why fibre?
Fibre gives your customers with a more reliable and consistent online experience providing:
- Better reliability - fibre provides a reliable, consistent experience even at the busiest time of day.
- Better capacity - fibre provides dedicated capacity which means everyone can watch, listen, play, post, work, and chat all at the same time without any loss of quality.
- Better speed - the faster the connection, the faster data moves through it meaning your customers can do more in a shorter space of time. We recommend plans of at least 100Mbps to get the most from fibre connections.
