Updating broadband pre-qualification outcomes
Informer 305: 25 November 2015
As part of our drive to bring New Zealand Better Broadband we’re making changes to our UBA pre-qualification to suggest Ethernet based EUBA0 as the primary offer, instead of ATM based BUBA.
What's happening?
If your customer has asked for a copper connection we want to make sure that they receive the best possible broadband experience available.
At the moment, when you submit a pre-qualification request and the result is inconclusive most Broadband Providers request BUBA, when in fact EUBA0 is available and is a much better option.
From 20 January a Wireline pre-qualification request that would have provided an inconclusive result will now offer EUBA0 when a cabinet has ADSL2+ capability.
What's the detail?
Approximately 53 percent of end customers who have BUBA connection could get a better broadband experience if they were moved off BUBA (delivered over the ATM network) and onto EUBA0 (delivered over the Ethernet network).
Like BUBA, EUBA0 is a regulated service under the BUBA service description in the UBA STD. Choosing EUBA0 means your customer gets a better experience for the exactly the same price.
After a review we have updated the pre-qualification database to more accurately reflect our ADSL2+ capability.
