Interim fibre abandonment process
From 1 September 2016 you will be able to access a process via the Chorus Portal for provisioning new fibre services to premises where a working fibre connection has been abandoned.
What's happening?
So that you can connect your customer to fibre services where there’s an existing, working connection that’s been abandoned by the previous tenant or building owner, we’re introducing an interim abandonment process from 1 September 2016.
This interim process will be available until there is industry agreement on a new abandonment code and associated process.
What's the detail?
Increasingly we’re finding that the previous tenant or building owner has left an abandoned, working fibre connection at a premise that then blocks another user from connecting.
The new process will allow you to place an order (connect and replace) for a new connection that will cancel the existing connection, subject to the losing service provider’s response.
When you’re the losing service provider you’ll receive a notification (via the Chorus Portal) that you’ll need to respond to within 5 days, or the new connection order will proceed and the abandoned service will be automatically relinquished.
