Grandfathering ADSL (Basic UBA) on ISAM equipment

Effective 1 February 2018 we’ll be grandfathering ADSL on ISAM equipment to level 1.

Grandfathering level 1 means:

  • No new customers may obtain the product
  • Existing customers can keep the instances of the product they already have
  • If an existing customer moves they cannot keep the product
  • Existing customers cannot order more instances of the product

ADSL is in the mature stage of the product lifecycle and is delivered over the legacy ATM platform. ISAM broadband equipment supports ADSL2+ (Enhanced UBA) and VDSL.

ADSL remains an option where it’s the only broadband available (connected to legacy ATM based DSLAMs, ASAM and Conklin).

It is not mandatory to move your customers at this stage, however there is a very straightforward migration process and it provides an ideal opportunity to discuss better broadband services with your customers.

We’ll be changing Wireline Broadband Prequalification to reflect “N” for ADSL (shown in Wireline as BUBA), when it’s connected to ISAM equipment. We’ll inform you of the timings for this once they’re confirmed.

Who do I contact?

If you have any queries or wish to discuss migration options, please contact your service delivery manager.
