As initially advised in November 2023, we are retiring our Customer Multi Access Radio (CMAR) and Country Set systems due to the age and state of the technology, and the difficulty in sourcing replacement parts.

Following our ongoing engagement with impacted RSPs and customers, these systems will be retired on 31 March 2025. A second smaller batch of services will be retired on 30 April 2025.

Impacted customers have been sent three notices from Chorus during the previous 6 months, reminding them of the retirement date and offering transition support. We’ve also had ongoing engagement with all RSPs who have impacted customers.

From the retirement date, Baseband services which use CMAR/Country Set network will no longer be available, and customers will need to rely on alternative technology to make and receive phone calls.
