Consultation outcome and notice – Wireless Colocation AC Power
We recently consulted with you on our proposal to change how AC power charging is applied for Wireless Colocation to a virtual fuse or circuit breaker instead of the current physically installed fuse size.
We have received one response as part of this consultation where the single respondent’s feedback indicated:
- Power pricing scores high in determining which colocation provider to engage
- Power pricing and equipment load influences whether you engage Chorus or the local lines company for external AC power supply.
- Fuse-based pricing is expected to be more expensive than meter-based pricing as its not based on actual consumption
- Meter-based pricing is highly desirable and would be preferrable over fuse-based. You also indicated that you would like this service to be made available immediately.
Based on this, we have decided to proceed with our proposed changes as outlined.
Notice of changes
We are amending the Operations Manual to reflect the amended methodology for AC Power pricing calculation and will publish that updated Operations Manual before the effective date. The changes outlined above will take effect on 11 May 2024.
An example of the revised pricing methodology is outline the table below.
Pricing Options | Cost per month |
Existing Fuse Based Pricing (6A 3ph) | $ 757.80 |
NEW Fuse Based Pricing (13A 1ph) | $ 547.30 |
Meter Based Pricing | $ 560.28 |
Next steps
No further action is required as we have previously communicated this will only apply to future Wireless Colocation orders.
