Broadband pre-qualification update for Basic UBA
Informer 321: 25 February 2016
On 25 November (Informer 305) we advised you of changes to the broadband pre-qualification outcomes to support bringing New Zealand better broadband.
What's happening?
We have identified the broadband pre-qualification change implemented on 20 January is not working as intended, so from 9 March, if the copper line has ADSL2+ capability the broadband pre-qualification will return ADSL2+ as the positive offer and ADSL1 (Basic UBA) as inconclusive.
What's the detail?
The Basic UBA footprint, where the only service available is Basic UBA (ADSL1), is less than 3% of our DSL footprint. In majority of cases Basic UBA over ATM consumers could get a better broadband experience if they were moved off the ATM network and onto Ethernet.
Where Basic UBA is presented as inconclusive, further investigation will be required to proceed. You can submit the required broadband order in Wireline OO&T. This order will be staged to feasibility and manually investigated and processed by our Provisioning team.
