We’re amending our offer to support Ministry of Education Broadband rebate - August 2020 update

On 7 April 2020, we announced our Covid-19 MOE support package offer. On 27 May 2020, we advised we would extend our connection period to 30 June 2020. As we continue to work together and through the challenges, we have all experienced. We want to continue to support you by making some amendments to the offer to ensure all addresses are received by the end of the Connection Period.

What’s happening


In April we announced our Ministry of Education (MOE) Support Package offer to support you and your agreement with MOE to connect addresses for students in need.  On 27 May 2020, we advised that the connection period had been extended from 30 May 2020 to 30 June 2020. On 23 June, we extended the migration period to 31 August 2020 – we’re now extending this again to 30 September 2020, to allow as many households as possible to take advantage of this offer.          

The MOE Support Package offer remains available during the connection period to connect broadband to qualifying households. however, we know delivering these connections to students in this time has presented several challenges.

To ensure we can give you more time to connect all homes, we are amending our Covid-19 MOE support package terms from the date of this update to allow additional time where necessary, to migrate customers to an active connection.  The relevant terms of the offer are amended as follows:

5.c

  1. You have from 1 April 2020 until 30 June 2020 to connect Qualifying Households (Connection Period); or
  2. Agree a migration plan with MOE and Chorus by 30 June 2020 provided the Qualifying Household is connected by 30 September 2020 (Migration Period).

 

5.d

Subject to clause 8:

  1. for any Qualifying Household connected during the Connection Period, you will be eligible to receive the Wholesale Cost credit for six months from the date an Active Connection is established; or
  2. for any Qualifying Household connected during the Migration Period, you will be eligible to receive the Wholesale Cost credit up to 31 December 2020 or for six months from the date an Active Connection is established, whichever is the earlier.
