Changes to 200Mbps connections
In July we confirmed UFB price changes to take effect 1 October 2021. This includes a price reduction on some of our 200Mbps plans to align with Fibre Max, and we also invited you to consult on how we transition these connections to Max in future.
We have reviewed and considered the feedback received and are now confirming the action we will take.
Summary of received feedback
There was limited feedback provided, reflective of the low volume of 200Mbps connections. Broadly, Service Providers are supportive of the speed boosts and understand the rationale behind aligning to Fibre Max. Some Service Providers are already considering withdrawing the 200Mbps plans to simplify their product offerings. There were questions raised regarding the Mix It Up incentive offer; we can confirm these changes will count towards the incentive thresholds.
What’s happening
We are now confirming that we will boost the following offers to Max speed:
-
Evolve 200-20-2.5-2.5 Residential
-
Evolve 200-100-2.5-2.5 Residential
-
Evolve 200-200-2.5-2.5 Residential
-
Evolve 200-200-2.5-2.5 Business
This change will be implemented overnight on 18 September 2021. All existing, in-flight, and future instances of these Chorus offers will receive the new speed automatically. Note, however, that you will probably need to update your network traffic profiles before End Customers can access the new speed.
These offers will still be available to order after 18 September, but any new requests will receive Max speeds. Given that there is no speed or price difference between these offers and Max, you may want to consider whether you continue to consume these offers going forward.
We may consider grandfathering these offers in the future, after industry consultation, as part of a portfolio simplification.
Note that the following offers are not being boosted:
-
Evolve 200-20-2.5-2.5 Business
-
Evolve 200-100-2.5-2.5 Business
The details
We will implement these speed upgrades through synchronised network and system scripts. This approach allows us to implement the changes in a more efficient and scalable manner than could be achieved via bulk service requests.
You do not need to do anything to get these changes applied. However, it is likely that you will need to reconfigure your network profiles before customers experience the speed increase.
For more detail on the migration process and what it will look like to your systems and customers, please see here.
Next steps
These changes will be implemented on 18 September 2021. We recommend you plan to update your network traffic profiles sometime after this date.
