Change to VLAN management - reminder
As part of our ongoing system lifecycle enhancements, we are making changes to how VLANs are managed and allocated. We are implementing this on Saturday 27 September 2025 to Sunday 28 September 2025.
This will coincide with our scheduled fibre inventory platform upgrade and outage, see our comms: Upcoming fibre inventory platform upgrade and scheduled outage notification.
We’d like to remind you that there will be two key changes to how VLANs are managed and allocated, compared to the current process:
Stricter enforcement of predefined VLAN ranges
Currently, Channel Partners can define a specific VLAN range for allocation within the Chorus-managed pool. However, due to a system limitation, it has been possible to allocate VLANs outside of these predefined ranges. This has led to configuration mismatches, causing service outages and disruptions for end customers.Removal of the RSP-managed VLAN scheme option
This product option is being retired. No Channel Partners are currently using, or have ever used this scheme, this change will have no impact.
The new system will enforce allocation strictly within the defined ranges to prevent such issues from occurring.
