Chorus has been developing its EdgeCentre Colocation product since 2016 and they currently are in four main locations around New Zealand.

We consulted with you in April 2024 about expanding further and again in October 2024 letting you know that we were undertaking a strategic review. Since then, a lot has changed in the market particularly with the rise of AI and the continued growth of hyperscale datacentres in New Zealand.  

A review of our strategy has showed that to stay aligned with market trends, we need to partner with specialist datacentre owners and operators to effectively scale our EdgeCentre product further. Therefore, we have decided to put on hold our plans to develop an EdgeCentre in our Ponsonby exchange and will keep you updated as we work with our partners to ensure a portfolio of quality EdgeCentres are developed around New Zealand to meet growing demand.
