In February 2024 we put this consultation and subsequent delivery on hold due to issues found in testing with the Nokia XS-240X-A ONT that could not be resolved.

We are now in a position where we can re-open this consultation. Running this consultation so closely following the 5th Gen GPON ONT consultation means that we can realise some efficiencies, grouping changes, and potential testing opportunities.

We are looking for some feedback from you to guide our choice of ONT. We are considering two options:

  • ONT A is a two UNI port device, with one 10G UNI and one 1G UNI alongside an ATA (POTS) port.
  • ONT B has 3 1G UNIs, one 10G UNI and an ATA (POTS) port.

Follow this link to let us know what you would like out of the 2nd Gen XGSPON ONT in our feedback form, and if there is anything that we should look to avoid.

This consultation is starting today, 11 September 2024, and will close on 10 December 2024. In this time we will:

  • Open our feedback form
  • Workshop 1 – Look at feedback, present summary and ask questions
  • Workshop 2 – Discuss specific ONT selection, capabilities, mounting and timelines
  • Close out consult

Invitations to these workshops will be sent shortly.

We are still on track to launch the new 2nd Gen XGSPON ONT early 2026.
