Consultation outcomes and formal notice – Chorus Relay Connect (CRC) product and price changes
We recently ran a consultation seeking feedback from you on the proposed changes for our POI to POI backhaul service CRC.
Summary of the proposed changes:
- Reduce pricing by 20% on average
- Removal of 48- and 60-month fixed terms
- Introduce Single Fibre Working (SFW) on 10G services
- Termination at a First Data Switch will no longer be offered as CRC (will be part of CXC when launched)
- Clarification of language around POIs in different UFB Areas
- Revised early termination clause (ETC)
- Updated SLA rebates for backhaul portfolio consistency
- Updated technical specification to maintain currency of standards
- Grandfathering of CRT and Commercial Backhaul Variant (sometimes sold as CRT). The available alternatives will become CRC and CXC
Consultation outcomes
Feedback was constructive and we can confirm the following changes to our proposal based on what you expressed:
- Reduce pricing further, on average by 30% across Open, 12-, 24- and 36-month terms
- Keep the 60-month 10G term
- 60-month 100G terms and all 48-month terms will be removed
- The price of the 60-month 10G will change slightly to align with the new pricing model construct. Most current 60-month term customers would see a 4-5% decrease when re-signing under the new pricing model, a small number would see a 12% increase, based on termination location.
- As part of this process, we have refreshed our POI list to clarify our POI boundaries.
- All other proposed changes remain unchanged
Those of you with committed terms will have the option to resign to a new similar term after the price changes take effect, to benefit from the reduced pricing.
We will introduce the product changes on 1 August 2023 and the Service Description updated in accordance with clause 24 of the Chorus UFB General Terms is available here.
Please note that any grandfathering of legacy products mentioned in our proposal will be formally communicated separately.
