Fibre Connect APIs

Proposes to implement a more modern API interface and eco-system across our Customer Order Manager

Overview

The Fibre Connect API initiative will implement a more modern API interface and eco-system across our Customer Order Manager (currently known as B2B). The objective is to remove a significant amount of pain-points for you, when we make changes to our Fibre platform.

This RESTful API interface will initially complement, and eventually replace, B2B and enable an improved versioning approach and support model for customers.

It will include:

  • Modernisation of the current end to end B2B fibre ordering capability via a new suite of approx. 6 RESTful APIs
  • A new versioning strategy enabling increased flexibility for customers to adopt either faster, or more conservatively
  • A consistent onboarding, support model & tooling across all APIs. Our existing APIs (Assurance etc) and the proposed new Fibre Connect suite
  • Support for customers with migration and eventual decommissioning of B2B

Timeline

Five APIs are now released, Place API and Product Offering have recently come out of beta and now considered stable, and Order Feasibility, Manage Appointment and Manage Order are available in beta. Full documentation and access to the specifications can be found here.

The final Notifications API will be released in June 2024 and is expected to be in beta for 2-3 months.

When B2B capability is confirmed as equal or better across the new APIs, and all APIs are out of beta and stable, we will issue the 12-month grandfather notice for B2B.

On 28th March we also published our new global API Versioning Policy which was co-designed with many of you during 2023, and updated the API Terms and Conditions to reflect the new policy also.

Next steps

The project team are meeting with all customers currently using B2B and any new customers considering the API suite. These sessions are to discuss migration planning and answer any questions you may have as you forecast and priortise internally. Please reach out to your Customer Engagement Manager if you would like to chat to the project team.

As we approach release of the final API in June, we will prepare to issue the 12 month decommissioning notice for B2B. If you have any concerns or questions please continue to keep your Customer Engagement manager up to date on your Fibre API adoption planning and progress. There is a wealth of information available to support you with your planning and B2B migration here.
