Business continuity update - 23 July 2021

Westport & Marlborough weather event

Flooding in the South Island is receding but continues to impact people living in the Westport and Marlborough communities.

The flooding has also impacted some Chorus services in both areas. Currently there are 161 residences without broadband as a result of 1 cabinet suffering power loss in Marlborough and 1 copper cable outage each in Blenheim and Westport. These impacts have been notified through our BAU Service Events channels.

We’re continuing to work in the affected areas to bring services back online. We are seeing a large number of road closures in Westport and Marlborough which is preventing access to some areas and therefore delays to recovery in those areas.

A consignment of ONT’s is being shipped to Westport ready for installation into flood-damaged homes once they’re ready for re-habitation. An additional 6 technicians have been brought into the Marlborough area to assist with fault recovery.

We issued a Force Majeure notice to the industry on Monday.

We’ll keep you updated as the restoration continues and if you have any questions, feel free to contact your Chorus account team.
