Chorus has today announced that it has signed new field services agreements with its existing service company partners, Downer NZ and UCG, with an effective date of 1 April 2025.  

This is a continuation of the relationship that Chorus has with Downer NZ and UCG, with some changes in scope of responsibilities for both providers.  

The new agreements include some changes that will provide benefits to Retail Service Providers and end customers;  

• Downer will now provide end-to-end services including build, fibre connect, new property development and fault restoration in the middle to lower North Island. This means all areas in New Zealand will now be serviced end-to-end by a single provider.
• The contracts have been signed over a longer term which will help ensure sustainability of tech resource and ensure availability to meet customer demand.  

The transition of responsibilities to Downer in the middle and lower North Island will be phased across April and May. The transition will take place in tranches across that timeframe, with workflows and geographies being transitioned as discrete projects within the overall programme.
