CMAR and Country Set Retirement – customer communications

As informed in November 2023, we are retiring the Customer Multi-Access Radio (CMAR) and Country Set systems that provide a voice-only service to around 1,800 consumers.  This notice is to inform of the customer communications journey.

  • On 13 September 2024, batch 1 customers were sent the first notice advising of retirement by 31 March 2025. They will be sent a further two notices, one in November and the next in February 2025.
  • Batch 2 and batch 3 will follow. The relevant RSPs have been provided details of which impacted addresses are included in which batch.

  • Please contact us at ruralsupport@chorus.co.nz for a list of locations where there is currently an active CMAR voice service.
  • We have been in contact with the current RSP’s who are providing the voice service over CMAR/CS. They may be able to transition the connection to an alternative service they offer. If not, and if the customer still wants to receive a voice service, we will be contacting alternative technology providers in the area that may be able to provide the service.

Further information on the CMAR Retirement, including FAQs is available on our Chorus website.
