Heritage & Cultural buildings

Overview

Heritage and cultural buildings hold significant historical, cultural, or architectural value. These buildings are preserved and protected due to their importance in representing the heritage and culture of a community or nation

Providing connectivity to Heritage & Cultural Buildings can be challenging due to the strict requirements for preserving and protecting the original structure of the building. Ideally, required consents should be obtained and any site-specific requirements should be communicated before the scheduled date

Checklist

Use these questions to check with your customer for a smooth process right from the start.

Is the site contact person is someone who

  • Has authority to sign off on the installation
  • Understands what is required
  • Knows where the ONT is or will be terminated
  • Can provide the technician access to complete the scope and install

If not, please ensure the site contact arranges this with the building manager and/or property manager on scheduled dates

Does the customer have site-specific requirements we should be aware of? *E.g. Is there a deadline for this site? If yes, please provide the date and outline the consequences of missing it.

Is a geologist or arborist required?

Do we need to gain any cultural or site auth approval?

ONT

An ONT, or Optical Network Terminal, is often called a "fibre box." It connects the fibre optic cable from the street to the router, acting as a bridge between the Chorus fibre network and broadband service.
