Following our recent TCF Product Forum update about our decision to maintain services at Spark sites with some limited investment, we are proposing adding three new POIs and invite your feedback by 25 August 2023.

The proposed three new POI sites are:

  1. Claudelands in Hamilton POI Area
  2. Gleniti in Timaru POI Area
  3. Spotswood in New Plymouth POI Area

The rationale for the new sites is to meet customer demand for our backhaul services at Claudelands or because we currently have no Chorus exchange functioning as a POI in the relevant POI area (Gleniti & Spotswood).

We also believe this brings additional benefits:

  • more diversity options for backhaul around the country
  • allows for more efficient routing of RSP traffic
  • accommodates co-location growth
  • enhances available Handover options

Please find the existing POI list for reference.

Next steps

Consultation is now open and we would like to hear from you whether you would benefit from these additional POI locations. Please use this feedback link and submit your feedback no later than 25 August 2023. Once consultation closes, we will take some time to consider your feedback and decide on next steps.

We intend to communicate our decision by 13 September 2023 and advise on next steps. If we decide to proceed with the proposed POIs then we will likely apply to have them recognised as Specified Points of Connection by the Commerce Commission, with a goal to make these available mid-2024.
