Following feedback from RSPs, engagement with Spark, and in context of the changing technology landscape, we have revised our UFB Handover strategy. 

Updated plans  

• We are no longer proposing to grandfather or withdraw handover services from any Spark sites  
• Our 1Gbps service will continue to be available at all sites (subject to capacity) 
• New equipment to replace end-of-life equipment will be installed at all sites, considering the forecasting data recently received from RSPs. The scale and capacity of equipment will vary from site to site meaning that specific features, such as geodiversity and 100Gbps may not be available in all sites 
• Following industry feedback, we will continue to explore options for serving third party sites in future while retaining our focus on facilitating growth at hub sites where we have already made significant equipment investments. We are investigating the feasibility of providing new POIs at Glen Iti, Claudelands, and Spotswood  
• The current RP1 equipment build programme, will see 1G and 10G capacity become available at all sites and 100G at selected high investment sites by the end of the programme.  

New Handover site capacity report 

To provide visibility of available handover services and spare capacity at a given site, we’ve developed a new Handover site capacity report that we’ll refresh quarterly and publish on our SP website.

Capacity availability at our handover sites changes regularly, either through equipment replacement, RSPs orders or handovers relinquishments so the report is a moment-in-time view of what’s available. We encourage RSPs to engage with us about future requirements and a feasibility investigation will be carried out.
